I recently had a debate with a pine marten. He was on an eave of a farmhouse in the dark, and indignant that about being disturbed. It was a bizarre and edifying experience. His barks seemed filled with words that almost sounded like "fuck you", etc.
The pine marten is well distributed in the W of Irl now. I have seen two dead on the roads near Westport in areas that are not heavily wooded, so the animals are travelling outside areas of continuous woodland.
