To finish a work means work undone,
the work you failed to fail or disown.
The work you cannot stand to let drop
falls down as even a pick-me-up.
Injure, abuse it, find no better
midwife for it than the shredder.
Let the work be what it discovers
twitching among its shredded tatters.
