The Letters of Louis MacNeice

Monstrously long review of The Letters of Louis MacNeice, by me, here. Now there was a man who loved cats.

  1. And there also, I'm told, was a man who habitually got plastered at the end of the day.

  2. 'Also', in the sense of MacNeice liking kittens and also getting plastered, I assume, rather than MacNeice and me liking to get plastered!

End of the day, middle of the day, and to start the day: Louis, that is.

  4. Must find that McN poem 'Spate River' mentioned in your review. Feeling like a spent salmon after three long days on my own spate river, The O-----. Note: sea trout are abundant in the rivers running into Blacksod Bay.
